Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
She's walking down the street
Blind to every eye she meets
Do you think you'll be the guy
To make the queen of the angels sigh?
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
She holds her head so high
Like a statue in the sky
Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long
When she moves my brain screams out this song
Sidewalk crouches at her feet
Like a dog that begs for something sweet
Do you hope to make her see, you fool?
Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello
I want you
Hello
I need my baby
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello
Another example of Morrison writing about what he observed as well as taking ideas from book and film.
Probably during his rooftop period the story goes that he was laid on Venice beach when a young coloured girl walked by.
The usually shy Jim called out Hello, I love you and that was it until he wove a song about it.
At first glance a rather poppy little ballad but some clever wordplay lifts it slightly above that level.
The band minus Robby Krieger used it for the Doors demo and it was remembered by Adam Holzman 10 year old son of label boss Jac who liked it and suggested the band should do it for their 3rd album.
reluctant at first to go over such old ground they eventually recorded a 1968 version with Krieger this time.
The guitar player used a fuzz box to get his distorted guitar effect and later the band was accused of swiping a Kinks song "All Day And All Of The Night" which resulted in the British royalties going to The Kinks.
Both Ray Manzarek and John Densmore have separately claimed to have been present when Jim uttered the immortal line but it is more likely that this was from his rooftop period and neither was there.
The song broke the band in Europe and was the only UK hit the band ever had when Morrison was alive.
‘Hello I Love You’....... Doors Icon?
