Touch Me
Yeah!
Come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Can't you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why won't you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?
Now, I'm gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Can't you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why won't you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?
I'm gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
I'm gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Stronger than dirt
Robbie Krieger wrote this song originally called "Hit Me," which was on the many fights he had with his girlfriend Lynn Veres.
When Krieger brought this to the Soft parade sessions Jim Morrison refused to sing it as long as the title was Hit Me so Robby changed it to Touch Me.
Musically it was once again a good example of the musicianship of The Doors. It featured a Curtis Amy sax solo and was another Doors #1 which eventually gave Robby a score of 2 against 1 over Morrison for #1 Doors hits.
Some believe it was a song about masturbation but as it was originally called Hit Me then that would have only appealed to the weirdest among the bands fans. So likely as not it wasn't.
