My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
Stand in your door
When we meet inside
Show me some more
Show me some more
Show me some more
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
Turn and stare
Fix your hair
Move upstairs
Move upstairs
Move upstairs
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
Free from disguise
Gazing on a city under
Television skies
Television skies
Television skies
My eyes have seen you
My eyes have seen you
Eyes have seen you
Let them photograph your soul
Memorize your alleys
On an endless roll
Endless roll
Endless roll
Endless roll
Endless roll
Endless roll
Endless roll
This song is mostly about the idea of voyeurism.
A voyeur is defined as A person who derives sexual gratification from observing the naked bodies or sexual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.
But in this song its more than sexual gratification and turns into a deep understanding of that person. Much like in the Spy, the voyeur knows the persons "deepest secret fear". In this song Jim Morrison watches some girl move around her house and in this, she becomes his victim because he learns everything about her. He learns the essence of her soul and memorizes her "alley." But my question is: What is an endless roll?
Now this is what i read somewhere:
At the end of the song..the lyric..."endless roll is repeated several times" Some interpreted it as "Hitlers throne" Morrisons student film dealt with Nazism and On a Doors live CD he did have a Hitler rant(while drunk probably"
I also read this which is interesting: Jim Morrison wrote the lyrics while he was living on a rooftop in Venice Beach, California. At night everything was clear, so he would look into peoples windows, study what they were doing, and watch their TV sets.
Any comments? Questions?
Peace
