Not sure if this is a verboten subject or not, so here goes, to make a long story short, flew from NJ to LA (coast to coast on Tuesday, met with Ida. She gave me her personal card which, if I hadn't had.....I'd a not got into the Whiskey because of poor planning, etc. I won't bother going into how poorly this thing was planned.
Seeing the guys play without Densmore was bad but the best part was seeing the guys play without ASTBURY.
I can die happy. Perry Farrell and C. Bennington filled in vocals deliciously and I went home a happy camper, sitting with a band called Hirax (their protomotor screwed them) (what else isnt new).....anyway, I'd like to say that Robbies numbers, the ones HE wrote mostly were featured.
The guys are not young men. Be nice and love the Doors for whatever you love them for and leave out the bile.
I got into the place which had been told by the fire marshall that no one else could go in, unless people had left....at 10:30 I showed Ida's personal card......and I got the "magic red bracelet" I went to the front of the Whiskey and was let right in!!!!! The bracelet meant I was a VIP.......I should be....I followed this band from the time I was 13 in 1967. I live on the east coast so there is no way I'd a heard about them sooner. Didn't do the sunset strip and at 13, don't think I'd get in to the Whiskey.
Anyway, as I said, it was a wonderful treat......the guys played, had fun......and I went home the next day to the east coast, NJ.
