The Doors singer died from a suspected drugs overdose 37 years ago in Paris, aged just 27, and was buried in the city's famous Pere Lachaise graveyard.
The tomb has now become a hang-out for fans of Morrison, and thousands make the pilgrimage each year to honour their hero.
Over the years it has become a shrine covered in graffiti, poems, flowers, candles, alcohol and even underwear.
Many of the fans spend hours at the grave, smoking drugs, singing and playing musical instruments. Some have even defaced other tombstones with arrows which point out the direction of Morrison's final resting place.
For years their presence has angered the relatives of other people buried in the cemetery.
French authorities first tried to exhume the singer's body and have his tomb removed to another site, but discovered it has been leased in perpetuity.
So instead, they have opted to have a regular security patrol to safeguard the other graves from vandals.
Florida-born Morrison battled for years with drug addiction before he was found dead in the bath by his lover at a hotel in the French capital in July 1971.
He was buried at Pere Lachaise alongside many other famous names, including Oscar Wilde, Chopin, novelist Honoré de Balzac, actress Sarah Bernhardt and singer Edith Piaf.
