Jim Morrison/The Doors – Original Drawing With Full Authentication Mrs PowersA unique Jim Morrison collectible--a drawing done by the Doors frontman at age at age 14. This is one of a small group of Morrison drawing sold by his childhood friend Girard "Fud" Ford at a Christie's auction in New York in 1994. Ford and Morrison met when the Morrison family moved to Alameda, California and they attended school together. The two boys spent many hours drawing together in an attic room at the Morrison house at 1717 Alameda Avenue. The friendship between Ford and Morrison and the Morrison drawings have been widely discussed and published, most notably in the books "No One Here Gets Out Alive" by Danny Sugarman and Jerry Hopkins, "Mr. Mojo Risin'" by David Dalton" and "Morrison" by Frank Lisciandro. The original Christie's auction catalog describes this as "A drawing in the image of Jim's teacher Mrs. Powers--while not an attractive portrayal, he added a child to help her appear softer." The drawing measures 9" x 11 3/4" and has been very expensively and archival framed to 19" x 23". It is in excellent condition and quite impressive, with an engraved brass plaque at the bottom of the frame. Ford sold smaller limited edition reproductions of the Morrison drawings, but this an original drawing, from the hand of Jim Morrison.
