This lawsuit was filed in California against Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore, individually and dba The Doors; Radio Associates, Inc. dba Radio Station KMEN; R.L. Mc Carty - Defendents
June Johnson, A Minor by Esther Johnson, her guardian ad litem - Plantiff
This lawsuit stemmed from a concert the Doors performed on or about July 4 1967 (The case wasn't filed until September 5 1969) at the Kaiser Dome on the Orange County Fair Grounds in San Bernadino, California.
The suit claims a stage light came into contact with the plantiff, June Johnson, (a minor) and caused her injury and as such she was seeking damages from the defendents. 'Plantiff was hurt and injured in her health, strength, activity to her nervous system and person, all of which said injuries have caused and continue to cause plantiff great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering. Plantiff is informed and believes, and thereon alleges, that said injuries will result in some permanent disability to said plantiff, all to her general damage in the sum of $25,000." She also seeks payment for medical bill and claims that she will be unable to seek or perform employment as she is permanently impaired.
An Answer was filed on behave of Defenants to the court on Nov 21 1969. This answer denies all charges sought by the plantiffs.
Considering this alleged incident by the plaintiffs happened on or about July 4 1967 (exact date is unknown) and the lawsuit wasn't filed until Sep 5 1969, when Jim Morrison was on trial in Miami - it would seem plantiff(s) were trying to take advantage of the fact that Jim was on trial at the moment so why not file a lawsuit of an incident that allegedly happened in 1967 to see if we can prevail.
Following Jim Morrson's death on July 3 1971 and during the probate filing of his last will and testament, there were creditors claims in the amount of $25,000 with Jim's share to be 1/4 of the damages if the plantiff of this lawsuit prevailed in court. The creditors claims go on to explain that if defendants prevailed, the plantiff would owe defendents their costs incurred in the lawsuit.
There is no additional documentation that I have in my possession that gives a final verdict in this case.
