I don't understand why he announces so early something that perhaps he will not be able to achieve. Would not it be better to remain in silent if he doesn’t have it all tied up? He made an ad with much fanfare, and after a few months he has to recant, and at the end he only gets a stir and loses that little credibility they have. They should have learned from past mistakes...

Seems as though he is one that will never learn. If I were one of the surviving Doors, I'd boot his arse! Seriously, they can do better ... but maybe they like the way he does biz ... which wouldn't surprise me ... Ha!

But it is a strange way of acting, he sells smoke, he inflates a balloon and after it explodes in his face. He just has got people disappointed, those who are so naive to believe what he was told. Some people have booked and paid $100 in advance... I don’t think in these times to everyone has money to burn. Although he said they will return the money, The Doors should not have let to sell the product without knowing if they could do it for sure.

But it is a strange way of acting, he sells smoke, he inflates a balloon and after it explodes in his face. He just has got people disappointed, those who are so naive to believe what he was told. Excellent analogy This fool has done this so many times and been forced to backtrack. He covers himself by lying and blaming others. His background is as an audio engineer I do believe so it's clear why he wants to have these ambitious projects such as gold disc, special vinyl and large box sets. But fans just want to hear the music. The simple solution is the best one and the easiest. That was the vision of Danny Sugerman who was a fan the same as the rest of us. Jampol is motivated by profit as he manages the estates of several dead people including Janis and Michael Jackson. So it is to his benefit to sell high priced 40 year old gear and milk a back catalogue. It's easier than managing a working band who are putting out new material. He makes money for these artists which is why he is tolerated. The Doors are greedy people. Any fan who cannot see that is naive and foolish. So it is a marraige made in heaven to have Jampol. From the fan point of view it has been a disaster. The man is a worthless liar whose ambitions far outstrip his ability. We see that with his LAW fiasco just as we did with the Matrix. Hopefully the 2 disc will appear in January along with the DVD. But look how long it took to get the album dowloads after he promised that. But he has still not fulfilled his promise to put rare material that did not warrant a CD release avialable as download. As Elisa says he sells smoke and does a piss poor job of it.

The Doors Celebrate 40th Anniversary of L.A. Woman Peter Hodgson 11.14.2011
Rhino Records will release a 40th anniversary version of The Doors’ 1971 classic album L.A. Woman on November 25.
The two-CD set includes a bonus disc featuring covers of Willie Dixon’s “(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further” and Barrett Strong’s “Money (That’s What I Want).”
According to Noise11.com, the remastered album features several noticeable changes compared to the original. For instance, the fade-out of “Love Her Madly” is 18 seconds longer than on the original album; an extra verse has been reinstated to “Cars Hiss by My Window,” and the title track includes the guitar intro “My Country, ’Tis of Thee,” adding an extra 10 seconds to the track.
Just found this after surfing a bit and this makes no sense at all but is dated the 11th of this month. “(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further”. was on the 2007 edition of LAW
“Love Her Madly” is 18 seconds longer than on the original album; an extra verse has been reinstated to “Cars Hiss by My Window,” and the title track includes the guitar intro “My Country, ’Tis of Thee,” adding an extra 10 seconds to the track. All of this was on the 2000 LAW DVD edition and may well have been on the 2007 edition. I can't recall off hand.
A version of Money is interesting as well as She Smells Nice but the rest has been released already so is no big deal. Hopefully this is indeed true but with the Doors you never really know. Jeff Jampol does not know his ass from his elbow and if this does get released next week it will make him look an even bigger fool than he is which is pretty remarkable considering what a complete idiot he looks already.

That is a bogus article that has been floating around the last few days. The journo who wrote it (and those who have copied it) have no idea what they are talking about. All the differences noted in the article refer to the 2000 DVD-A surround mix, which was ported over to DVD for the 2006 Perception box set, and then to CD (stereo) for the 40th Anniversary CD edition. Fact checking is too much work for these people, I guess. Disregard this article. 2 CD version will include the original 1971 mix of the album plus a disc of "alternate versions" of several of the tracks (no idea if these are alternate TAKES or MIXES ... HUGE difference; the use of the word VERSIONS is an easy way out of having to explain what the fuck it actually is!), plus She Smells So Nice/Rock Me. Money was mentioned in an Uncut article a few months back, but it appears to be AWOL. The Doors don't know what's gonna be on this thing. The press don't know what's gonna be on this thing. Tracklistings for the 2CD and 2LP have been released, but I say, don't believe it until you have the fuckin' things in your hands! And even then ... be sceptical! Ha!

I have not believed these people for a long time now mate. I got the DVD when it first came out and CHBMW is the only interesting aspect of it. So the LAW will be the 1971 mixes not the 40 year remixes or will it. As you say none of these people have a clue whats going on but that is the fault of The Doors themselves via the idiot they put in charge of the project. Jampol has a record of this going back years. When he used to be asked questions he would always dither and come back later after someone had told him the answer. As Elisa said he bigs something up only to find he is talking crap then lies about it and blames someone else. The man is a maggot This whole 2011-2012 Year Of the Doors campaign has been reduced to the level of comedy by this idiot. They did the same in 2007 when they stuck 40 year stickers on the back catalogue in 2007 even though most of the albums were not 40 years old and The Doors were 42 years old. LAW itself was 40 in June/July this year NOT January 2012. And 2011-2012 encompasses 2 years rather than one unless you add a month which if it's June 2011 to June 2012 we will have missed most of the year of The Doors when LAW is released. Which will turn it into 5 Months Of The Doors. The whole campaign is stupid. Shallow salesmanship replaces any sense for the History of The Doors. Sad but also laughable that people like Jampol have such a low opinion of Doors fans.

... even sadder the number of folks over at the LL forum that swallow this shit and ask for seconds! One day, even they will be fed up, and where will that leave Jampol and The Doors, eh? Too fucking sad.

Something some of us have been saying for years mate. The Doors have done more damage to their own legacy in the last decade than all the negative publicity Jim brought this last 40 years. They are too rich and greedy for more to understand the damage they do. Densmore was the last bastion of sense but now he has crawled into his bunker we are probably now on our own. For me the penultimate nail in the coffin was that sewage WYS. It's only a matter of time before the final nail gets driven in and then what?

Definitely a skewed movie, that, but parts of it were enjoyable, I thought! I do understand why you don't like it, though. I would accept it as a gift on Blu-Ray! Ha!

The Doors Releasing a 40th Anniversary Edition of ‘L.A. Woman’ For the Second TimeBy Daniel Kreps- Amplifier – Fri, Nov 18, 2011 4:10 PM EST Countless classic rockers could be accused of remastering, repackaging, and re-releasing their albums as deluxe reissues just to make another buck off their bygone works, but no band has squeezed the wallets of their diehard fans more than the Doors. For the second time, Jim Morrison's old band mates are releasing a 40th anniversary of their last "real" album, 'L.A. Woman'. (The Amp, rightly, doesn't count the Doors' post-Morrison albums.) In 2007, the band put out their first 40th anniversary edition of the 1971 album, even though 'L.A. Woman' was only 36 years old at that point. Now, on the LP's actual 40th birthday, the Doors are back with another reissue of 'L.A. Woman', except this time, it's offering something its many repackaged predecessors lacked: an unreleased song. While compiling tracks and the original masters for this new reissue, the Doors' producer Bruce Botnick discovered a never-before-heard studio blues jam called "She Smells So Nice," Rolling Stone reports. This unearthed song is now the centerpiece of the 'L.A. Woman' second 40th anniversary edition, along with alternate takes of all the album's tracks. The surviving members will also release a new DVD called 'Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story of L.A. Woman' that documents the making of the album. This whole campaign will set the stage for even more reissues to come in 2012, which the band is calling "The Year of the Doors." Get the full details at Consequence of Sound. It's great that "She Smells So Nice" has been found, but these reissues are getting to the point of overkill. Check out the Rate Your Music page for 'L.A. Woman': No less than six reissues of the 1971 album have been released in the U.S. in the past 35 years. That's a lot of "Mr. Mojo Risin'." Once in a while, these re-released Doors albums will offer something unique, but for the most part, it's just the same 10 songs over and over again.music.yahoo.com/blogs/amplifier/doors-releasing-40th-anniversary-edition-l-woman-second-211034424.htmlThe Doors announce 40th anniversary reissue of L.A. Woman By Alex Young on November 18th, 2011 L.A. Woman, the crowning achievement of the pre-Skrillex era of The Doors, recently turned 40-years-old. As these things often go, the band is commemorating the occasion with a deluxe reissue featuring a slew of previously unreleased material. The two-disc set, aptly titled L.A. Woman: 40th Anniversary Edition, is highlighted by a previously unreleased song titled “She Smells So Nice”. According to an issued press release, the recording was discovered by producer Bruce Botnick while reviewing session tapes for L.A. Woman. Right now, you can hear a short snippet of the track at RollingStone.com. In addition, the set also features eight previously unreleased alternate versions of “L.A. Woman”, “Love Her Madly”, “Riders On The Storm”, and more. You can find the entire tracklist below. All of the previously unreleased material found on the CD collection will also be available as a double LP titled L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions. With the nine tracks comprising the first three sides of the vinyl, the fourth side features a laser etching of the original “Electric Woman” art included with the L.A Woman album. Finally, the band has announced the release of a behind-the-scenes documentary, titled Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman. The film includes new interviews with band members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, as well as footage of live and studio performances. All three releases will be available on January 24th as part of a year-long campaign titled ‘The Years of the Doors”. Additional releases will be announced throughout 2012. Also, as previously reported, The Doors will be releasing a special L.A. Woman singles box set for Record Store Day’s Black Friday promotion. Click here to learn more about that. L.A. Thanks for that Elisa If that's the 2 disc set then the 5 disc set will be complete horsehit. Amazon have it for £17. I would have to think twice if The Doors offered me £17 to take a copy off their hands. The free disc would be nice but dealing with those crooks would leave me needing a good wash Completely underwhelmed by that tracklist. So apart from She Smells Nice we have Rock Me which was recorded during the Rock Is Dead session and it would not surprise me if it was that version. My bet is CHBMW is the 2000 version from the DVD. Obviously ROTS is interesting but the rest certainly not. Of course I will get them and listen to them but my world would not fall apart if I died tomorrow without hearing them As Jason said they have had this crap for years. If they claim they just found it then I call them liars. Milking the shit out of fans is how these creeps stay so well off. LAW is one of my all time fave albums and I have bought it countless times this last 40 years but this sludge is a rip off too far. They deserve nothing but contempt over this but I am sure plenty of Doors fans will fall for their bullshit.

The film includes new interviews with band members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, as well as footage of live and studio performances. In other words the same old crap stories we have heard endless times before with the same old footage with possibly the Australian TV footage chucked in. Wow! I bet that ain't cheap. A 3 sided LP with half a side each on 3 sides and an etching on the 4th. Big deal!!! The poor collectors are gonna get hammered here. Also, as previously reported, The Doors will be releasing a special L.A. Woman singles box set for Record Store Day’s Black Friday promotion. Another rip off. These guys are absolute crooks.

Well, I will probably buy the 2CD with xmas amazon vouchers! I don't currently own the original mix, so that will be nice. 2CD set is plenty for me ... Still very curious to see what they came up with for a FIVE disc set. I have a feeling it'll be on iTunes, etc by Jan/Feb and sit and rot there ... (of course, I will get it by other means ... or use iTunes vouchers to get it, ha ha ha! ) Being a fan, musician, and collector (somewhat), I DO indeed want to hear this stuff, even if most of it will be worth hearing once only. Always up for hearing different versions/mixes. To each his own.

This from yesterday on the Net The L.A. Woman 40th anniversary edition (Rhino 2-CD) features a never-before-heard song, "She Smells So Nice," which captures the band--organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, drummer John Densmore and late singer Jim Morrison--joyfully barreling through a full-throttle original before segueing into the blues standard "Rock Me."
As the song closes, Morrison can be heard chanting, "Mr. Mojo Risin'"--an anagram of his name that was made famous during the bridge of "L.A. Woman." Recently discovered by producer Bruce Botnick while reviewing the L.A. Woman session tapes, a teaser clip of "She Smells So Nice" can be heard here.
In addition to "She Smells So Nice," the second disc of the L.A. Woman reissue includes eight never-before-heard versions of songs from the album. Alternate takes of "L.A. Woman," "Love Her Madly" and "Riders On The Storm" offer a fresh view on this landmark album, which was the group's sixth straight Top 10. The studio chatter between the songs is a revelation, transporting listeners to The Doors Workshop: the West Hollywood rehearsal space where they recorded the album with Botnick. One segment in particular captures a fascinating moment of inspiration when Morrison suggests they add the now-iconic thunderstorm sound effects to the beginning of "Riders On The Storm." Rhino will also release L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions, a double LP featuring all of the previously unreleased material found on the CD collection on three sides of vinyl, with the fourth side featuring a laser etching of the original "Electric Woman" art originally included with the L.A. WOMAN album.Seems as if the studio chat will be in between the tracks. That is a worthwhile addition I like. Rock Me is part of SSSN so is not from the Rock Is Dead 1969 session. Still hardly awe inspiring but sounding slightly better. Here you go Jason www.amazon.co.uk/Woman-40th-Anniversary-Doors/dp/B0069GRIHW/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1322137202&sr=8-19

Not to play devil's advocate (no, really! ), but it was stated from the beginning that She Smells So Nice/Rock Me were from the same performance; never explicitly or implicitly stated it was from the Rock Is Dead session. Nice to see the chatter is left in for the 2CD version. 'Twill be fascinating! Thanks for the link. Cheers!

Not to play devil's advocate (no, really! ), but it was stated from the beginning that She Smells So Nice/Rock Me were from the same performance; never explicitly or implicitly stated it was from the Rock Is Dead session. I wasn't aware that it said that as I don't follow The Doors news on the net anymore really. Most of it's bullshit anyway I was simply engaging in conjecture due to the other fuck ups that imbicile Jampol has overseen. ## Indian Summer from MH put on the debut album 40 year mix as the 1966 version. or before that nugget turned up ## Who Scared You shorter version appearing on the box set because nobody was aware there was a single version that missed a verse out. And they stupidly used that one. All it takes is for someone with more than one brain cell to actually listen to the product before it goes out but The Doors seem to be short of that kind to check their crap. Still would not surprise me if something gets ballsed up
