I'm gonna wait till the midnight hour That's when my love comes tumbling down I'm gonna wait till the midnight hour When there's no one else around
I'm gonna take you girl and hold you And do all the things I told you In the midnight hour
I'm gonna wait till the stars come out And see that twinkle in your eyes I'm gonna wait till the midnight hour That when my love begins to shine
You're the only girl I know That can really love me so In the midnight hour
I'm gonna wait till midnight hour That's when my love comes tumbling down I'm gonna wait, way in the midnight hour That's when my love begins to shine
Just you and I Just you and I, yeah Just you and I, baby

From May 30 to June 18, Them had a residency at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles. The Doors opened for Them and on the last night the two bands and two Morrison's performed a twenty-minute version of "Gloria" and a twenty-five minute version of "In the Midnight Hour". This is as far as we know the only time The Doors performed In The Midnight Hour and sadly, again as far as we know, the performance was not recorded. The song itself was released by Wilson Pickett on the 1966 album 'The Exciting Wilson Pickett' so would have been a well known number at that time. Written by Pickett and Steve Cropper it was Pickett's first hit reaching #21 in the US singles charts in 1965. Wilson Pickett - In the Midnight Hour
