Concert Program
March 15th 1968: Colgate University,
Hamilton, New York.
The Doors play the Cotterell Court, the college hockey rink, as part of a Fortnight of Active Arts program.
This is part of a short but fruitful East Coast tour which includes gigs in Boston and 2 nights at New York's Fillmore East
which are regarded as two of the best Doors concerts ever played.
Unfortunately this is during the fabled COTL recording sessions and when the band get back to LA the chance of a Morrison poetry LP vanish and they then scramble to deliver an album to Elektra that will not have a snakeskin sleeve or feature Jim's opus.
Instead they get a rag-tag of songs from their 1965 demo and a few half decent songs from Jim's notebooks and a song from Robbie that would not have otherwise ever got anywhere near a Doors LP.
Overall a decent effort but not what was expected.
One of the songs championed by Jac's son Adam, which the band had no intention of ever recording, goes to #1 and becomes the bands only international hit reaching a le #15 in the UK.
