“It just naturally evolved we didn’t plan moves on stage or anything. I liked the power of it I always liked to sort of comment on my drums. Right after we would do something lyrically I would give it an exclamation point an accent!”The Doors Tribute To Jim Morrison DVD. John Densmore always seemed to me to have an uncanny telepathic knack of anticipating Jim Morrison during The Doors live gigs. Always there to spur Jim on during concerts with what he referred to as his ‘comments’ on Jims words. The bootlegs give us some great example of this chemistry as Jim would ramble off on some poetic tangent and the band would follow along as if this had been rehearsedf a thousand times. But it was Densmore who held it all together with his instinctive drumming as a backbeat to Jims words. Any of you got a particular fave John/Jim moment live or on an album?

The album version of When The Music Over- perfect, it's amazing to hear that & sure enough John's drumming perfectly punctuates Jim's statements.

Being as I'm a guitarist, I'd HATE to be in Robby's place during those times in the gigs. Jim would go off on something unrehearsed, and I'd stand there like 'omg! what the hell is he doing! what do I do?!'
