Doors Box Sets– good value or bollocks
You probably think its funny `cos I ordered my copy a month prior to its release but regardless we are going to take a critical look at both efforts and ask “worthwhile or big con”? DOORS BOX SET— Presentation wise it`s very good. The brochure is superb and is nicely dedicated to Paul A Rothchild. Good start but what about the content A bit haphazard the way it`s set out with no discernable rhyme nor reason( bit like our site –ED) such as date, session, out-take or live. The exception being the New York disc which is quite good.( Though the sound quality should have been better). Most of the content is reasonable even though 99% of it is available to those of us that buy bootlegs. Our fave is the superb “Adagio” and the cool jazz version of “Queen of the highway”. No it`s the fourth disc that gets on our tits. Didn`t anyone think that the only people who would buy this box would be die hard fans (or maybe they didn`t give a toss as long as we coughed up our hard earned £60.) and whilst I`m more than interested what the guys favourite tracks are I don`t want to bloody own them again. AP Scorpywag rating –First 3 discs 7/10 worthwhile, Disc 4— 2/10 Bloody big rip off. ( Check out FREE’S new box set to see how it should be done.)
