Classic Rock Guide Picks - Top 4 Doors Studio Albums Whether a new fan just starting to build a collection, or a vintage rocker looking to fill a few gaps in the ol' CD rack, you're sure to find what you're looking for below. These are the top four studio albums from The Doors, as recommended by other Classic Rock fans in a recent forum poll. 1) The Doors (1967) When the Doors burst onto the music scene in the mid-sixties, the world was more than ready to embrace Jim Morrison's seductive, hypnotic allure, and the band's haunting, poetic imagery. Packed with FM radio staples, (Break on Through, Twentieth Century Fox, Light My Fire, The End), The Doors is one of the most significant and unparalleled debut albums of all time. 2) Morrison Hotel (1970) By the time their fifth album rolled around, Morrison's voice was beginning to show signs of wear; the alcohol and drugs which were an integral part of his existence were taking their toll. Yet Morrison Hotel still produced enough adequate songs to become a favorite among fans, with "Roadhouse Blues" and "Waiting For The Sun" being the most widely known. 3) L.A. Woman (1971) The Doors' final album before Morrison's untimely death later that summer, L.A. Woman showcases the band's bluesy side, with cryptic lyrics venturing into the land of absurdity. Still, the title track, "Love Her Madly" and "Riders On The Storm" became rock favorites and remain timeless to this day. 4) Strange Days (1967) My choice for #1, however voting dictated otherwise. As The Doors' sophmore effort, Strange Days is a pleasant experience for those of us who tire of the overblown, wordy recitations (in this case, "When The Music's Over") and prefer the quartet in short, radio-friendly doses such as "Love Me Two Times," "Moonlight Drive" and "People Are Strange."

That's a tough one. I like the first album and also: Morrison Hotel, Strange Days, L.A. Woman, An American Prayer, Absolutely Live, The Doors Legacy, and The Doors In Concert. Those are my top albums.

Strange Days always comes up as my favorite, it seems the most coherent & cohesive, an album you must listen to as a whole.

I agree my queen, the first and LA Woman, it looked as though the band was going back to their roots before Jim died. But being a sucker for live stuff I love Absolutely Live and Alive She Cried, ain't heard the new double live cd yet

My fave has always been the doors, however i love la woman, well i love em all really, but la woman also stands out for me. the first album, cos its the first one a heard and because it is dark, bluesy, edgy everything the doors were. and la woman because it was their first proper blues album and it shows their roots, and for a supposed some back album is amazing.

I thought we were just stating what was our favorite STUDIO album. I don't think it really matters. Nearly everybody has more than one favorite. It's hard to pick just one and say it is your favorite. All of the albums are great in their own right.
