It's weird as the 2005 poll I put up seems to reflect the view here almost exactly......

The Soft Parade... "Shaman´s Blues" sends shivers down my spine... "The whole world's a savior Who could ever, ever, ever Ever, ever, ever, Ask for more?" And "Wild Child" with its reference to Rimbaud, especially: "remember when we were in Africa" and "The Soft Parade" : "This is the best part of the trip, This is the trip, the best part I really like, What'd he say?, Yeah!, Yeah, right! Pretty good, huh, Huh!, Yeah, I'm proud to be a part of this number Successful hills are here to stay, Everything must be this way" This song has an almost supernatural feel to it, you´re drawn into it like a little boy who discovers girls for the very first time! It consumes me, flesh and bones, hair and soul... love it... So, yeah, The Soft Parade... nice

strange days is my fave doors cd mostly b cos its the 1 that creeps me out the most. there is some scary stuff on there. the weird effects on jims voice on strange days. robbies twisted guitar solos on when the musics over.horse latitudes is enuff 2 give me nightmares 4 weeks. i luv all the others but that is the 1 i play the most. i wish not 2 touch the earth was on strange days 2, i think it would have fit better on there.

you have to be the first person i have ever come across who has said that their fave doors album is other voices! nothing wrong with that, its just that people are usually gripped by jim's influence from their fave album. i would love to hear why other voices is your fave....
I like the production.. lotsa rhythm guitars and I dig Ray's voice. Also Johns drumming is fantastic. Also some of the best bass playing I've ever heard on a doors album. "I'm Horney, I'm Stoned" is excellent playing all around. The production and arrangments remind me alot of my own music.
I am also a guitarist who sings and I have a 3 piece band.. so I can really relate to that lineup better. I never had a singer that just sang. I don't want all my writing, arranging and work being credited to some guy who just stands there and sings and have him get all the glory and attention.
Robbies best playing i think is all over LAW, OV, FC & AP.
LA Woman is really similar too in that theres alot of guitar and its more rock/blues which I love. So for its really a close tie. I guess 1971 was a really good year for Robby as guitar taking a major role. :-P

I can relate to that as my fave bit of Robby on a Doors album is indeed Tightrope Ride. I have always loved Other Voices but it still is my seventh fave Doors studio album. I have always admired RK as a guitar player because he was never what you would call a conventional lead guitar player......drifting in and out of songs, lurking on the periphery of a song and then coming back in with a killer bit of guitar to remind you he was there.......I have found him a lot more innovative than the likes of Clapton and Richards and they were both pretty innovative in their time. The musicianship of The Doors has always been in a class of its own in my view but as Ian says they had a damn good 1971 unlike Jim....

I have found him a lot more innovative than the likes of Clapton and Richards and they were both pretty innovative in their time.
Robbie was definately more innovative then them. All clapton did was copy what black blues musicians had already been doing for a decade.. but he was a white guy doing it so it seems more unusual and therefore made him seem more amazing for doing it.
Then you take hendrix.. a black guy.. playing white guy hippy music. His guitar playing was not that amazing (trust me) But he was out of what people would expect his natural eliment to be so he got noticed.
Robbie was robbie. He took a myriad of styles and combined them with rock. He and George Harrison pioneered the use of the Gibson Meistro Fuzzbox (think when the music's over) and that spawned a number of hippy bands with the same guitar sound (Iron Butterfly)

I REALLY DONT HAVE A FAVOURITE I JUST GO THROUGH STAGES OF LIKING ONE ALBUM MORE THAN ANOTHER SOMETIMES. LIKE AT THE MOMENT I CANT GET ENOUGH OF MORRISON HOTEL. BUT IN A COUPLE OF WKS I PROBABLY WONT BE ABLE TO STOP LISTENING TO LA WOMAN OR SOMETHING. THATS THE WAY IT WORKS WITH ME.

Either Strange Days or Morrison Hotel, but I love all the albums and it was tough enough for me to narrow it down to two nevermind one.

Seventh? After the first six?
Ah so you at least like it better then" American Prayer" So do I really. All that saves that album is some fantastic editing and musical compositions.

hmmm? You don't consider AP to be an album.
So wouldnt the answer to my comment "Ah so you at least like it (OV) better then American Prayer" be Yes?
