So believe it or not i only just realised that the lyrics for alabama song were also taken from the opera. i thought it was just the music and the lyrics added by jim. as the inside the doors DVD says (well a critic does), the lyrics are meant for jim! the song is perfect for jim yet it wasnt it suggested for the album by ray. due to ray and his missis constantly listening to the original an suddenly deciding that it would make a good doors tune.

Ahhh, I wondered about that when I watched that DVD! That's why I asked you! They really are right for Jim! I think it makes the perfect Doors tune!

Funny thing, the only time Morrison sang the "next little girl" line correctly was at the Matrix. In the original a woman is singing "Show me the way to the next little boy". Listen To Manzarek react on that line at the 10th show.
