I GUESS BOTH ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES SO ITS KINDA HARD TO SAY WHICH IS BETTER. I LOVE THE ORGAN INTRO ON THE LIVE VERSION. ITS HAUNTING, AS ARE JIMS VOCALS.

The PBS version, without question!
I have never seen a live Doors performance more moving than when Jim sings the end of The Soft Parade. "when all else fails, we can whip the horses eyes and make them sleep and cry!!!"...what emotion and power!!! Even at the line "You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!"...it has so much more power than the album version.
...The Soft Parade album was given unjustly reviews by critics, in my opinion. I think it is a great album...next to The Soft Parade, another of my favorite Doors songs is 'Wild Child'. ...it just goes to show that some people don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

I agree on the album it sort of is tame but seeing them especially Jim perform it really gave it some teeth & actually understood the lyrcis a little better.
