"Thanks - I thought that I was gonna be a little nervous but Ahmet (Ertegun, President of Atlantic Records,) have me so, uh, couple tabs of acids before I came out - he wanted to....and I feel fine." (Laughs; evil grin)
"Umm, Sometime in 1966 all four members of The Doors were umm...well they were asked to join the armed forces to fight the Vietnam was - an offer you can't refuse. Actually I guess Ray had some uh, relationship problems and decided to enlist...umm, a little bit then and I guess it didn't take him long to figure out, 'What the fuck am I doing here?' and uhh...swallowed a couple of handfuls of tin foil so it'd look like he had an ulcer to all medical exams. He escaped."
"John Denmsore, the drummer, simply acted psychotic; acted mad. He walked into the examiners office - psychiatrists office, took the chair from the table, brought it to the back of the room, faced it towards the wall and just sat there. He was given a 4-F...no sorry, a 1-Y which meant that...you were free for a year, but they could call you in a year, and...bring you back - I think he got his phone disconnected after that."
"Umm...Robby Krieger - his idea was to just ummm....act...gay. That was his angle; an angle that apparently can still be used today. And he was given 4-F. Now Jim Morrison.....was given a rating well, he was given a 'Z'. No one knows what that means; he never told anyone how he got it. Uh, but we all uhh...thank the sky that he did because The Doors went on in 1967 to make their first record...uh, that had songs like 'Break On Through,' 'Light My Fire,' 'The End'....was on the first record - I can't .....
"And that was in '67 and '68 there was the record 'Strange Days' - 'People Are Strange,' 'Moonlight Drive,' uh 'Waiting For The Sun,' 'Caymen '69' (?) 'Soft Parade,' 'Morrison Hotel,' 'LA Woman,' was in '71 with 'Riders On The Storm,' 'Love Her Madly,' - the reason I mention all these is that it hust...amazes me to see all these songs, and all these records was in the period of '67 to '71. Six records. And, uh...when I see that, it just makes me really proud and honored to welcome them, and induct...to the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame, Mr Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and imm....Jim's sister Anne Churning (?) is here to accept his so please, The Doors.

Thoughts on the rock and roll hall of fame
induction:
DOORS BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE HALL OF FAME (San Diego Union January 12, 1993) - "HONOR DOESN'T AWE MANZAREK"by George Varga (Pop Music Critic)
"It doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot one way or another. It's just an honoring," said Manzarek from his Los Angeles home which is within walking distance of the Century Plaza Hotel. "But it is an honor to be included with such august company as (blues legend) Muddy Waters in the R&R Hall Of Fame.
Manzarek answered affirmatively when asked if fans of The Doors gain a greater appreciation of the band if they recognozed its varied musical references. "It would be wonderful if people did," he said, "because it adds more spice to the mix. Morrison's shamanistic, sexual showmanship is all people know now. It
would be nice if people got into the musical and
literary references. There's a lot of stuff in there that
I don't think people know about."
Pearl Jam singer (and former San Diegan) Eddie Vedder will induct the band and perform in place of Morrison, who mother and father, a retired admiral reside in San Diego. "This is a good year." Manzarek said. "The only thing that would have been sweeter is if Jim were alive. He would have liked the banquet."
Robby Krieger Says Eddie Vedder Was Leery Of Tackling A Doors Cover

(11/22/00, 12 p.m. ET) - With the recent release of Stoned Immaculate: The Music Of The Doors, one of the greatest acts in rock history has finally been paid proper tribute. The Doors are just about the last band from the era to receive this kind of treatment, and LAUNCH asked guitarist Robby Krieger why it took nearly 30 years for this to happen.
Krieger believes a lot of people are afraid to tamper with something that's just about as good as it can get, and he added that Pearl Jam's frontman falls into that category. "You know, one reason is, I think, because when you think about doing a Doors song over, you think, Geez, how can I do that better than the original?" he chuckles. Eddie Vedder wouldn't even try it, even though he's a big Doors fan and stuff, 'cause he didn't think he could do it as good."
While Vedder chose not to record a Doors song for Stoned Immaculate, he has been known to perform the band's music. In fact, he sang two songs as a stand-in for the late Jim Morrison when the Doors were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in January 1993.

In conjuction with the subject matter of this posting I offer you another R&R Hall Of Fame story from one Patricia Kennealy who claims to have offered the R&R Hall Of Fame "personal relics" as promised in her will, a promise that has now been retracted due to the R&R Hall Of Fame's unwillingness to honor her as Jim's wife.
Kennealy states "I'm very happy to say that their churlish, short-sighted insult to Jim Morrison's only wedded wife has cost the R&R Hall of Fame very dearly indeed, and I thought you might all like to know....just to rub it in.

My Comments April 4 2001:
My hat goes off to the administrators of the R&R Hall Of Fame for not taking Kennealy up on her offer. Kennealy over the years has inducted herself into her own Hall Of Fame of one-sided critism and lies. Hopefully, someday people will understand her true intent forcing her self-appointed kingdom to crumble.
My Comments: Jan 29 2005: In retrospect of my comments four years ago about Kennealy...her kingdom did crumble a couple of years ago and no one has heard from her since. :-)
Although there used to be real audio and video of Eddie Vedder performance with the surviving Doors at the Induction Ceremony the web sources have sadly disappeared from the net.
