DOORS CO-FOUNDERS TO SALUTE JIM MORRISON THIS SUMMER IN PARIS
4/8/2011
In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death, Doors co-founders Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will perform in Paris, the city where Morrison died. KGET.com reported that the pair will perform on July 3rd at the Batlacan 40 years to the night of Morrison's death. On July 3rd, 1971 Morrison was found dead in the bathtub of his Paris apartment. The local coroner ruled the official cause of death for the 27-year-old Doors frontman as "heart attack induced by respiratory problems." Morrison was buried in Paris's Pere Lachaise Cemetery on July 9th of that year.
Manzarek and Krieger, whose relationship is strained with Doors drummer John Densmore after years of inner-band legal problems, are playing select European cities this summer, with stops booked for Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Austria -- as well as an Israeli gig two days after the Paris show, on July 5th.
We asked Robby Krieger if he plans to team up with Manzarek in the studio: "Yes, we have thought of that and we've recorded some stuff. The point is -- it's got to be great. It's got to be on the level of the Doors music. And it's tough, y'know? We keep changing singers. But we're gonna do that. In fact, we're working on some stuff right now."
