What are your fave covers of Doors songs and if possible why? Mine are Rhea's Obsession 'End Of The Night' which is the most innovative Doors cover ever for me and amazingly interpreted by a girlie! Blue Öyster Cult's live version of 'Roadhouse Blues' which captures the energy of The Doors on stage Days Of the New who dared to be different on such a Doors icon as 'The End'. Echo & The Bunnymen did a wonderful version of 'People Are Strange' with Ray on keyboards for the movie Lost Boys. And an honourable mention to Will Young for his version of 'Light My Fire' which paid due respect to Jim Morrison in the video....nice touch from the younger generation.

Blue Öyster Cult played Roadhouse Blues live for years...I heard them do it at Newcastle City Hall in the 80s.... They played it with Ray Manzarek at The Starwood in Hollywood in 1978 and with Robbie Krieger at the Country Club, Reseda, CA in November of 1981 which was recorded and is on a boot I have.

sweet! they played with robbie, that wil be worth listening to. the only blue oyster cult song i know really is dont fear the reaper, or what ever its called. i quite like that tune. just wondering what the dudes voice will be like for roadhouse blues. roadhouse blues is a great track and its the only track that really gets my non doors fan mate (carl) going on a night out if he is feeling depressed!

All the original Members of Blue Öyster Cult were big Doors fans also thier manager Sandy Pearlman was one of the students that brought The Doors to Stoneybrook U in NY in 1967. Collaborator/writer/buddy Richard Meltzer wrote fro Crawdaddy and was a huge fan of The Doors. The guys also did Soul Kitchen on thier 1975 tour but sadly not on one of thier UK dates which I saw 2.....

A whole new generation got turned on to The Doors by the Lost Boys movie....I loved the poster in the vampire lair.... Ray produced the PAS single and played on it as well... Jason Patric did a good impression of Jim as well...
