from moviemistakes.com-
The Doors (1991) - 8 mistakes See more links about this film at Starpulse
Factual error: During the scene where Morrison is sitting on the ledge of a building and drinking, you can see a billboard advertisement for a film below him on the street. Even though this scene is set around 1969, the ad is for the Eddie Murphy-Nick Nolte film Another 48 Hours.
Factual error: During the part where Jim Morrison is going through the obscenity trial, all these events go through his mind. One of them is the George Wallace assassination attempt. Jim Morrison died in 1971 and the assassination attempt occurred in 1972.
Factual error: In the scene where the Doors are first playing "Light My Fire", Frank Whaley (Robbie) plays a riff from "Wish You Were Here", by Pink Floyd. The song wasn't released until 1975, well after "Light My Fire" became popular.
Factual error: Morrison did finish film school in real life. He did not drop out as depicted in the film.

Stuart, These errors really don't prove your point, that these errors created a flawed film
1. A continuity error-happens in just about every film, check out such errors in other films they're rampant-& how would Ray have prevented that?
2. So an anachronism occurs in a montage how does this flaw the film-easily Oliver Stone was trying to give the feeling of the era of assassination (sp?) i.e MLK & BFK.
3. Maybe Stone likes Pink Floyd or Rothchild did & included it as a reference/homage/or joke.
4. If I do remember correctly even No One Here... reports Jim left school early, it is entirely possible he left school after his degree was in no danger but before the school year was over, especially if it occurred around a "finals" period which the illustrated film was & when it did occur.
I have stipulated that mistakes occurred & some heinous i.e the arson scene, but these are common mistakes that happen in any film & Ray's consultation would not have prevented any of the ones you cited.

"Ray's consultation would not have prevented any of the ones you cited. " Sadly with ray not on board for the full journey so to speak we will never know now one way or another.
Cite LMF(pages 55,56 and 57) to see how stone really mucked up jim's student movie scene in the film, he just didnt listen to ray in that one, he put some stuff in that not even jim put in!!.
Mind you it is Oliver Stone........

Jim's film doesn't exist anymore (it seems) & no one remebers exactly what was in it except it was "non-linear and poetic" so why must it be an exact duplicate of Jim's movie?
You're trying to prove bias, & I would assume atagonistic bias from Oliver Stone towards his subject, but all these factual mistakes don't. & the anachronisms & continuity mistakes WOULD have occurred had Ray stayed on board they just might be &/or they would be Ray's. Ray is just upset Oliver wouldn't put up with his "consultation" or interference, I could see Stone's attitude being "how many hit movies do you have?" masters in film or not

Yor God Ray has as much idea how to make a movie as I have to make a space shuttle you brain dead arce! What do you think John and Robby were doing whilst your hero pouted in the background......they were consultants to the movie as well and made Olly aware of the flaws in his script but accepted it was a movie not a fucking documentary Your pathetic nit picking gets on my nerves as you constantly talk so much crap out of your rear end and I would not mind if it was some kinda original crap but all you do is parrott Ray Manzareks shite that he has been whining on about since 1991......he got paid a shitload of money to sign off with Stone and his backers and only started to whine on when he was ignored because he has the film making skills of a Gerbil and Stone, who is a film making genius, decided that a gerbil was not what he needed to make a succesful movie..... Ray will repeat the same old moan on every attention seeking interview he does ....'white powder movie blah blah blah' and idiots like you lap it up as if its some kinda Gospel......of course you can find errors....Jesus Christ thier was a ceturion wearing a watch in 'The Greatest Story Ever Told' but that did not mean Cecil B De Mille was an idiot.....yes the script was not The Doors story as we would all have liked it...but we don't need YOU to tell us THAT...we are aware of the faults in the movie but accept that it happened....could have been better but did its job...... Stone film making genius....you and Ray idiots!

"Yor God Ray " WRONG alex, i have never proclaimed or ever thought ray my"god" or my"Hero". Your Feeble "original"attempts at Insults towards me just make me laugh so much i just dont take the bait and get offended as it's so transparent yawwwn deary me alex Ray SAW jim's movie and tried to help stone with that but did stone take that all in from ray well we all know the answer there pal(i still cite pages 55,56,57 of LMF) "but we don't need YOU to tell us THAT" well TOUGH alex, i WILL continue to give my thoughts and opinions(i am entitled to) about the stone pic and i share pretty much the same views as ray on it , deal with it. Oh and personal insults eh! when i tried to have a go with my opinions about FF, you pmed me and said you took my post off off, hypocritical there alex as you well try to "Insult" me but it's a different story when i try to start about FF, granted you have more reason to moan about him than me but I STILL have reason to. "Stone film making genius....you and Ray idiots! "oh im so offended by that jewel lol. I will never back down debating with you alex, i dont give in and i dont back down, i stand up for myself and you will have to get used to that ;D I do enjoy having a laff alex haha! thanks

LOL the wizard king! Each time I watch it I have to remind myself NOT to read the subtitles, it gives me a serious headache. Some more examples of dreadful translation...Rothchild is called Rawchild, Krieger is called Friger, Densmore is called Desmoe and Ray is called....Deric?!.... And Patricia Canana? That´s just the names...imagine what happens when the story itself is translated...

I like it because it got me into The Doors. It could have been much better though. Like many say, I hate the only dark-sided Jim being portrayed. The films wayyy too depressing as well. It seems from when LMF becomes #1 the rest of the film is just dark and heavily depressing. It leaves alot out of the history, mainly Morrison Hotel. If you check deleted scenes check out the alternate ending sequence. Stone definitely should have used that.

no, alternate ending sequence, as in instead of just showing Pere Lachaise, it shows jims grave and then cuts to jim in a heavenly like atmosphere, singing Roadhouse Blues, clean shave, skinny, it would have been a nicer ending imo

I know I was just poking a little fun, I thought the concept of an alternate ending a bit paradoxical (not sure if that's the right word, buit on the right track) & just wanted to see if anyone else got it. I liked that Rock & Roll heaven scene, although I don't think it was going to be where the Pere Le Chaise scenes are, if I remember correctly it was going to be for the end credits. maybe a bit of nit-picking. ;D

yep, end credits. From what I remember its a shot of Pere Lachaise and then a cut to the heaven scene

not quite sure i lke the idea of the heaven scene. i would have prefered a scene from an early gig with a younger, slimmer jim, much like you mentioned from the heaven scene. besides wouldnt jim be rocking in HELL!? ;D

besides wouldnt jim be rocking in HELL!? ;D Absolutely NOT! He is probably out there in the universe like it was decribed from the DVD. I have not rent the DVD now to see the alternative ending, I have only the VHS. What other extra material is on the DVD?
