I just saw the Doors Collector's Magazine newsletter. Kerry said they have been asked to remove some of the bootleg CD's you can get through his stamp trading program because "The Doors" will be releasing some new material. That sounds good if it happens. Has anyone else heard anything?

Thing is it does not amount to a hill of beans unless these morons address the underlying issue of pricing, distribution, promotion and general good will of thier customers. The outfit is still run by arrogant assholes who think we will all just forget the lies we were told, the bullshit service we were given and the money that was screwed out of us. There might be a few dumb enough to fall into that catogary but the majority know they can just as easy get the releases from unofficial sources later than put up with BMRs crap now! If these idiots want to sell a product to Doors fans they need to give us a) a reason to buy from THEM and b) treat US with a bit of fucking respect. So far all we have seen is the usual bullshit on a message board............. I was a loyal customer from day one and spent hundreds of pounds with them..... I say to BMR/A go FUCK yourself I will buy from a pirate....unless they can give me a decent reason NOT to!

I have never bought any BMR or BMR/A or whatever they are calling it these days or any other merchandise for that matter from the Official site.
I have spent thousands over the years buying Doors products before the Official Site began just to have one Raymond Daniel Manzarek call fans like me nasty names in the press. The same fans he treats like shit now helped put a roof over his head and food in his mouth. No matter what they do to try and "win back" their old fan base I won't send a penny of support their way.

I gave up on supporting them as well.
I remember on Ida's site how she bumped into Robby at an airport & he bought her lunch, & all I could think of was how many times over she bought that lunch.

I agree with all of you guys. When they came out with that joke of a poll in Sept. 04, I said jokingly I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get a new release until a whole year later (Sept. 05.). Hell, I'd shit my pants now if we all did get it by Sept. But look at the bright side of it, new stupid-ass remixes from talentless DJ's, oh yeah new best-of albums to go along with the twenty we all ready have, and months of no info.

Yes BMR/BMA are idiots. But it they release something like the Aquarius shows or the Detroit show, I would buy it in a minute. The bottomline is they have the tapes. Unfortunately it's run by idiots.
I think this 21st century Doors thing is winding down. And Ray will probably go back to riding Jim Morrison's coat tails again. Which will translate into more Door's items being released.

"The fact is, nobody did anything, that Jim Morrison didn't want. He was the creative genius. he was the irreplaceable member, as we learned after he died the Doors tried to go on without him" Paul Rothchild 1981
I think the fact that Doors made two more records after Jim passed before breaking up (because of disagreements over the direction of the band) prooves that Morrison didn't need to be replaced. They made great music without him. And whatever "genius" Morrison may have contributed was only icing.

We would not know who Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger or John Densmore were if not for Jim Morrison. Yes they are good musicians. But they would have never become famous without Jim. Jim's brillance is what brought it all together. Paul Rothchild saw that. The downfall of the group after Jim died is obvious. They made some records ("Other Voices" & "Full Circle", compare those records to thier first six Door albums with Jim Morrison and there is no comparison. Jim Morrison wasn't just icing, he was the genius behind the music. Robbie Krieger wrote some great songs with "The Doors"("Light My Fire", "Love Me Two Times" & "Love Her Madly" and many more. There is no doubt in my mind that Jim helped him create the songs that became the hits. How come after Jim Morrison's death Robbie hasn't wrote any more hits. He has had all kinds of bands. But no hits. All "The Doors" live off the legacy of Jim Morrison. Ray milks its all the time to sell a video, book or whatevere else he is peddling to make money. The whole 21st Century Doors thing was milking Jim Morrrison. You note they haven't released any new material. They play all Door's songs. Because nobody want's to here there new crap. To me Ray, Robbie and John were the icing that gave Jim Morrison's creative genius to the world.

Thats your opinion. I happen to think "Other Voices" is superior to a few morrison albums. I wont say which ones so as to not have another pointless arguiment. But I'm not caught up in the Morrison Methos.
Keiger hasnt made hits and Ray milks Jims image because of fans like yourself who think Jim had the most talent and can't get over his death.
There would be no forum right now if it were not for Jim Morrison. We would not know who Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger or John Densmore were if not for Jim Morrison. Yes they are good musicians. But they would have never become famous without Jim.
Your absolutely right. His good looks and personality gave the band the image it needed for a consumer base not to concerned with talented musicians.
But let's not pretend Morrison would have gotten anywhere without THEM. We would not know who James Douglas Morrison was if not for Robbie, Ray and John. Or if not for Ray going around pimping the demo.
I think the reason I think this way is because I'm a musician and I've worked with people like Jim. They write lyrics.. have a solemn demeanor.. but no musical talent. You can have all the music in the world in your head but its no good to anyone else if you dont have the talent to make it a reality.
