Ford Motor Company Training Film May 1966....... "It is around this time when not under any contracts that The Doors are hired to provide a soundtrack for a Ford industrial training film for mechanics. They create a light instrumental piece for the opening sequence which is later ressurected in a musically similar arrangement for the transitional passage in the song 'the Soft Parade', which lyrically begins 'catacombs, nursery bones'. That piece and the other compositions are fashioned to convey an atmosphere of small town America. The Doors compose the soundtrack while viewing the film on a monitor in a small studio in Los Angeles." Doors On The Road. This was done at around the time the band was playing its early London Fog dates and just before they took up residency at The Whisky. Obviously done to make a few bucks to keep the band afloat..... I wonder if anyone from Ford has a copy of this incredible bit of Doors history and would it NOT be something if it was in fact discoverd and released.......

There is not much info anywhere on this Rick but it seems that it was just a musical outing without Jim as a way of making a few bucks for the lads. Hardly a commercial venture and I doubt Jim would have been against such a thing as the band were pretty hard up at the time and were hardly endorsing Ford.....
