Let's celebrate 'Love Her Madly' the Robby Krieger classic which was released here in the UK on April 30th 1971.
It was this that revived my interest in The Doors and led me to buy my first Doors LP LA Woman that year.
Radio Luxemburg's evening English service chose 'Hit Picks' and 'Power Plays' which received more than regular plays in each DJ's programme.
LHM was a hit pick and made the Luxemburg chart so I heard it a lot.
It was received reasonably well in Europe thanks in part to Radio Luxemburg which was received throughout Europe making #4 in the Netherlands Singles Chart, #10 in France and #6 in Austria but sadly not even charting in the UK.
Round the world it didn't do too bad.
US 1971
This was the bands second single to include a non album B Side and the first to include a Ray Manzarek vocal.
It's not a bad effort and probably goes back to the bands earliest club days when the band did not have a lot of material so looked to old blues standards.
Chart positions (1971)
Australian Go-Set National Top 60 #6
RPM Canada Top 100 Singles #3
U.S. Billboard Hot 100 #11
U.S. Cash Box Top 100 Singles #8

Don't ya love her madly
Don't ya need her badly
Don't ya love her ways
Tell me what you say
Don't ya love her madly
Wanna be her daddy
Don't ya love her face
Don't ya love her as she's walkin' out the door
Like she did one thousand times before
Don't ya love her ways
Tell me what you say
Don't ya love her as she's walkin' out the door
All your love
All your love
All your love
All your love
All your love is gone
So sing a lonely song
Of a deep blue dream
Seven horses seem to be on the mark
Yeah, don't you love her
Don't you love her as she's walkin' out the door
All your love
All your love
All your love
Yeah, all your love is gone
So sing a lonely song
Of a deep blue dream
Seven horses seem to be on the mark
Well, don't ya love her madly
Don't ya love her madly
Don't ya love her madly
