MORRISON JURY EXPECTS VERDICT TODAY
A six member jury is expected to reach a verdict today in the trial of Orgasmic Rock entertainer Jim Morrison.
The jurors advised Criminal Court Judge Murray Goodman late Saturday that they had reached verdicts on three counts, but it would take some time to resolve their opinions on the fourth charge against the leader of the Doors rock group.
MORRISON is charged with gross lewdness and lascivious behavior, vulgar and indecent exposure, vulgar and indecent language and drunkenness in connection with a March 10, 1969 (March 1, 1969) concert at Dinner Key Auditorium.
The three man, two women jury was again locked up and advised to continue deliberations on the last charge this morning at 10 am. The three verdicts reached were not revealed.
However, the announcement came after the jurors had asked the judge how far various witnesses were from the stage on the night of the concert by the Doors. And defense council Robert Josefsberg had asked Goodman to recess the deliberation because “their questions indicate the only way they could reach a verdict is by comprising or resolving too speedily.”
AFTER 15 days of trial, stretching through two months the man who started it all, the self appointed King of Orgasmic Rock ended his gig in Criminal Court (in) Judge Murray Goodman’s chambers reading a book.
The book, a current best seller, contained many of the four-letter deeds and words in question during the trial.
Amid barrages of Biblical quotations, counter-volleys of Hans Christen Anderson and salvos of four letter words that could, clear a pool room, Morrison read on.
THE UNUSUAL Saturday court session began with Prosecutor Terry McWilliams and Defense Attorneys Josefsberg and Max Fink presented more than five hours of closing statements.
END.
