The Miami Herald News September 17 1970 MORRISON: AUDIENCE CUSSED
Rock Singer Jim Morrison and the three members of his musical group, The Doors, testified Wednesday it was the audience – not Morrison – using dirty words at a 1969 Miami concert.
Morrison, the bearded 26 year old son of a Navy Rear Admiral is on trial in criminal court accused of obscene actions, indecent exposure and lascivious behavior on stage at Dinner Key Auditorium a year ago last March.
“I heard a lot of profanity,” Morrison testified in reply to a question from his attorney Max Fink. “It was coming from the audience and ran the full gamut of basic four letter words.”
A college graduate with a degree in Fine Arts from UCLA, Morrison described himself as a “rock singer” and a song writer.
He was on the witness stand only briefly Wednesday afternoon before Circuit Court Judge Murray Goodman recessed the more than month-long trial until today.
