You and me caught in the heart of a rainstorm
Getting all wet but I got me a brainstorm
Why don't we hide in the trunk of this tree for a while
And were getting so close and so warm that you're making me smile
Well you're making me wish we could stay here for more than a while
Well the rain has been over for two or three hours
We're gonna stay with the trees and the flowers
Why dont we stay here 'til 1974
And I look at the sky and I wish it would rain some more
And you're making me feel
like I never felt before
This memory I can't erase
The raindrops on your face look so inviting
I know that love I can't resist the way
You part your lips is so exciting
Inviting
You and me caught in the heart of a rainstorm
Getting all wet but I got me a brainstorm
Why don't we hide in the trunk of this tree for a while
And were getting so close and so warm that you're making me smile
Well you're making me wish we could stay here for more than a while
Yes you're making me wish we could stay here for more than a while
Notable for the fact it is actually the last studio song The Doors ever released during the bands existence.
Released by The Doors as a B-side for the "Get Up and Dance" single in July 1972.
It's writer Robby Krieger felt "it sounded too commercial", and as such the track was left off the Full Circle album.
The song is one of the rarest and least known by Doors fans.
Musically it is a nice poppy tune with Krieger strumming his acoustic whilst playing some nice harp work over the top.
Manzarek does some good piano work and Densmore supports them well with some cool percussion.
The song itself is barmy and the least sounding Doors song ever. Repeated listens will leave you humming the thing for days even if you don't want to.
Manzarek's vocal is pretty decent as all his vocals are and it has to be said that Tree Trunk is the oddest of Doors oddities but still one that deserves at least one listen from Doors fans.

What direction do YOU think the band would have gone in if they had carried on after Full Circle?
What could have the doors become?
Should the band have carried on at all without Jim Morrison in 1971?
35 Years On....should The Doors have carried on?
Could an effective Doors replacement have been found for Jim Morrison in 1972/73?
Could Jim have been replaced in 1972?
What has been the best Post Jim Doors moment for YOU in the last 35 years?
