You Need Meat (Don't go no further) One of Ray's finest moments during the 4 Door period with some cracking 'Screamin' Ray' vocals and some awesome Chicago blues piano playing from the Doorsmeister. Probably came from one of the periods during the LA Woman sessions when Jim was off being Jim somewhere leaving the 3 Doors to amuse themselves with a bit of the blues....sucha s this Willie Dixion cover........ended up as a B Side to Love Her Madly and is an under rated Doors gem regardless of its lack of Morrison input. Ray was a great singer back then even though he was obviously overshadowed by Jim Morrison and his vocal excursions during Doors gigs were always enjoyable even though most Doors fans do not give the guy the credit he deserves. Features some nice guitar from Mr Krieger too............ You need meat, go to the market You need bread, try the bakery You need lovin', look here baby I got just what you need I gotta love somebody (x3) Somebody's gonna love me
You need money, go to the bank dear You need honey, look to the bee You need lovin, c'mon here woman Well I got just what you need I gotta love somebody (x3) Somebody's gonna love me

Listen to: The Doors - (You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further
Awesome rocking Doors courtesy of Screaming Ray Manzarek, John's pounding drums and Robby making his guitar really scream. I wonder where Jim actually was when the guys did this song. Bet he would have enjoyed it if he had been in the control room.

Another cover from the bands early club days and was noted to have been played during their London Fog engagement from February 1966. The original Dixon lyric. You need meat, go to the market You need bread, try the bakery If you need love, baby Don’t go no further Just come on home with me
I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I want somebody, to love me
You need grits, go to the grocery You need fish, go to the sea You need love, baby Don’t look no further Just come on home with me
I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I want somebody, to love me
You need money, go to the bank dear You need honey, look for the bees You need love, baby Don’t go no further Just come on home with me
I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I want somebody, to love me
I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I got to love somebody I want somebody, to love me.Listen to: Muddy Waters - Don't go no further The legendary Muddy Water's aka McKinley Morganfield version with it's famous Little Walter harp solo. The blues were always at the heart of The Doors from their inauspicious beginnings in 1965 until their final album in 1972.
