Hi alex. Im the geezer you stood/sat chatting to outside La Ren on sunday, just after the poetry reading. After reading your stuff over the years on various forums, it was good to meet you!
A couple of questions i meant to ask you on sunday, but slipped my mind.....
The phone call that Jim made from Paris to Densmore in June. He apparently stated that he was looking forward to touring again with LA Woman. Given he had been trying to get out for the last couple of years, i can't believe he would have said that. What do you know / believe about that conversation?
Also, what was Jim's relationship like with Siddons?
I'll obviously keep looking for the info myself, but anyones opinions are welcome.

I know nothing about the call other than what Densmore says on #6 & 7 of ROTS mate. I have no doubt a call was made and don't believe John made up what was said as he is no Ray Manzarek. But Jim does not say anything at all about wanting to tour again and simply asked about the album and said 'we should do another one'. These things do take on a life of their own when they appear and doubtless in another 40 years the conversation will include all kinds of shit But that does not mean he wanted to do another one. have you not said something in the euphoria of a conversation that you did not really mean? I have and that for me is what Jim did. According to JD Jim did not seem drunk but he might have been slightly and let the conversation drift that way. We will never know. Morrison had left The Doors and told them to carry on and not depend on him. He was makingadvances to film companies and had asked Bob Greene about his finances with a view to staying a lot longer in Europe. The letter is here somewhere. There is no evidence at all to suggest Jim was coming back to The Doors. His friends in the US confirm this view and the people he met in Paris got the same feeling as he would not talk about The Doors with them. As for Jim and Siddons. I have no clue other than what I have read. I would not believe anything from that liar Vince Treanor who has badmouthed Bill a lot because he is pissed off that they nebver gave him the managers job. I think Siddons got on well with all of them as he knew he was there to do what he was told not tell them to do stuff. He did a decent enough job from what I have seen.

Cheers for that. I am in agreement with your take on the Densmore conversation. I know plenty of people, who when invited to parties etc say "yeah, yeah, i'll be there" just to be polite, and they don't actually intend on going. I think that's what jim did.
Some of the tripe that has been put out over the years in books, films, documenataries etc have led a lot of people to think he wanted to come back and pick up where he left off. (Plenty of people have said as much to me) WYS in particular does this. But that's just what Ray et al have been striving to achieve isn't it.
Thats what i find so annoying about WYS. There is so much information about JM/The doors in written form, and a decent amount of film footage too, that it takes so much time to digest. The power of a 60-90 min documentary is immense. Its what 99% of people see and remember. It would be nice, better than nice, to see an accurate portrayal of Jim for a change.
As for Siddons. i never see/hear a lot from him, or about him.

Bill Siddons moved on and did other things. The Doors could never manage that. Ray was quoted as accusing JD of living in a 60s time warp but he is the one in a Doors tribute act. JD has al least tried and this latest Greta Garbo 'I want to be alone' not signing autographs act is probably his rather clumsy attempt to finally break free from The Doors. Of course he won't give up his mill' a year. Siddons has barely spoken about The Doors whilst Ray has never shut up about it. It's been Ray's meal ticket for 40 years and will continue until the old hypocrite kicks the bucket. I wonder how HE will be remembered? If at all.

As Alex said, Bill Siddons has moved on. He is still willing to talk about his time with the Doors if people ask him but he does have his own management company. One of the many bands he manages now days is Alice In Chains.

It shows what a liar Ray is and where this nonsense that Jim wanted to go on the road came from. LMF is an entertaining book but it is full of lies and fantasies. I used to make excuses for Ray but this last 10 years have realised what a complete arce the man is. A total liar and hypocrite......sad but true
