Hopkins apology for the Godawful NOHGOA. Hardly essential but worth reading all the same. Some really interesting information in there and the Morrison interview section is rather cool.

This is an interesting snippet. On May 1st 1972 (not 1973 Jerry) The Doors trio played a gig at the Olympia in Paris. 2 miles from Pere Lachaise. Their next gig was 2 days later so they had a free day. They did not visit Jim's grave. Even more unforgivable they did not mention Jim even once during their concert. We have a bootleg to confirm this but Jerry was at the concert and felt strong enough about it to make a mention in the introduction.
Decades later the band (Ray) claimed they did not go in case there was an ugly crowd scene. Even for Ray this was so much bullshit. Why would there be an 'unpleasant' crowd scene? Would the crowd blame them for Jim's death? Of course not.
How many people did they think would be there? If they did not announce it and just went it is likely they would be the only ones there. If there were any fans there at the same time as they turned up it is more likely they would be given sympathy (they did not deserve) and asked for autographs or photos.
No the likely reason they did not go was they probably blamed Jim for their predicament. And at the time they had no idea how much being a mate of this dead bloke was worth. From this came the 50 years of lies about whether or not Jim was a Door. He wasn't as he had left. But luckily for the trio he died before this fact was wildly reported so they just lied and said he was on holiday.
The Paris gig for me was the biggest betrayal of Jim by the 3 Amigos. It's true they wanted to re-invent themselves and as such never played a Morrison song during the 4 tours they embarked on from 1971-1972. I have a lot of respect for that and am a big fan of their first 3 man LP. They mentioned him at their final LA gig when Ray said 'we'll play here again when Jim comes back'.
But he was lying moulding in his grave less than a year after he died, 2 miles away, and not one of the fuckers could be arced to at least go and say thank you for 1965-1971 just as a business partner let alone a friend.
