WASP does at first sound like the other take on the 2nd disc but it is a different take and an interesting glimpse of The Doors recording process. We know that they did mostly a live recording for LAW but it would be nice to experience the same for an album like Strange Days. I never am bored with this stuff and always have the interest to hear this kind of thing and not just with The Doors. It's an aspect bands did not think about 30/40 years ago and a lot of great stuff was lost. I don't for one second believe the tale The Doors tell about this LAW out take tape but I am glad we have it all the same.

"Tale," meaning, "we recently discovered this shit?" Yeah; bunch of bollox! They KNOW where EVERYTHING is and HAVE KNOWN for YEARS. Just be honest, guys. Oh, wait, yr. incapable of that. Sorry, I forgot. At least the "new" music (with the exception of SSSN) that has been released as part of this LAW project thus far has been excellent. I will eat my words in regards to my saying previously that this would be neat to hear once. Far from it, so far. Keep it comin', boys!! Oh, and while yr at it: London Fog, Complete Matrix from the masters, Hollywood Bowl BD/CD, Singles Collection (CD set, PLEASE!). Bring it ON.

Many thanks, Jason!! I do what I can! I hope you could read all of that ... not missing much if you couldn't though. Fricke tells the same old story for the thousandth time. A shame, as I have said before that I usually like his writing. Oh well ... If the 3 CD set happens, let's hope there's some notes included that go a bit deeper, as well as track by track annotation. Not holding my breath, though. As with everything with these guys, "I'll believe it when I see it!"

Cassandra, BTW, I wasn't refering to your reading abilitites in the above post. I was refering to the squint-inducing size of the scan!

Side 1 1. The Changeling (Alternate version) (4:49) 2. Love Her Madly (Alternate version) (3:56) 3. Cars Hiss By My Window (Alternate version) (4:40) 4. L.A. Woman (Alternate version) (8:48)

Side 2 5. The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat) (Alternate version) (5:34) 6. Been Down So Long (Alternate version) (5:05) 7. Riders On The Storm (Alternate version) (9:07)

Side 3 8. She Smells So Nice (Previously unreleased song) (3:23) 9. Rock Me (Previously unreleased studio version) (5:55) 180-gram LPs in a gatefold sleeve. All music previously unreleased.

Side D is laser-etched featuring the album lyrics. The sticker on the cover incorrectly states that the etching is of the original 'Electric woman'.
The laquers were cut at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, CA under the direct supervision of original Doors producer/engineer Bruce Botnick and Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman.
What an absolute rip-off that was I love the way they misrepresent 'She Smells Like A Badgers Butt' as 'contains the original unheard song She Smells.' They are such underhand fuckers and would not just admit it was a drunken fuck about and and by no stretch of the imagination could be called 'a song'. There is no doubt in my mind that LAW 2 was partly one of the good things to come out of the stupid sales pitch called Year Of The Doors with its amazing out takes. But at the same time these greedy bastards saw a way to milk the shit out of Morrison and the fans and took it with both hands. This piece of vinyl shit cost a fortune and adding the 2nd disc just a way to screw more money out of Doors collectors. They even made a massive fuck up with the laser etching and still added the last disc.

They didn't even include the Year Of The Doors silver sticker on the new Bowl CD, DVD or Blu-ray. Way to keep a little consistency in your marketing, boys! The Year Of The Doors has been a complete and utter non-starter from the get-go ... The only way they could redeem themselves in 2012, in my opinion, is if they issue a double CD of all the single versions ... but they won't. We'll be lucky if we get a box set of all the singles on vinyl for RSD in November. Hell, even Kiss is doing a singles box set on vinyl, CD and download. I REALLY want one of those! Complaining aside, glad to have LAW 40th CD and Blu-ray documentary and Live At The Bowl '68 on CD ... will get the Blu-ray in the future. For all the flaws, they are still pretty good releases. I just wish they could arrive without the obvious (and by now, EXPECTED) fuck ups!

Yeah it's always nice to have ANOTHER version of the stuff I have already bought several times but they do have lots of stuff we have not heard as well. LAW redressed the balance a little by finally releasing the out takes they have lied about not having for the last 20 years. And I don't believe this 'they found it down the back of a couch' crap they came out with. Those out takes have been awesome and they still are hoarding several discs worth that they promised to release this year. That's the trouble mate you will probably see a box of vinyl singles as they can make a lot of money selling the shit we already have in various formats. Me I don't collect anymore and just want to hear and see the music and film they have that has NOT been released 100 times already. LAW out takes, London Fog, the out takes from FOF, Jim's poetry from 1970. The YOTD has been a joke and even the ass crawlers on the Doors forum are getting fed up.
