this subject has probably been talked about a bit before. but during the touch me performance, which can be found on dance on fire, i cant remember where it was. But Robbie has a massive shiner! how the hell did he get that? has it ever been known?

Just before the Smothers Bros show in November/December 68 Jim and Robby were in a bar when jim started his antics calling people names.....soem large blokes tried to beat the crap out of them....Jim got away but Robby got twatted in the face by one of them......when asked what had happened he told people jokingly that Jim had punched him............  Only years later did the real story come out... ;D |

 Like much in The Doors world this incident has many twists and turns.....Robby at first told the media that Jim had punched him during some musical disagreement but later said the attack took place when he and Jim were assaulted in a bar.....Then in the 90s John gave the story a new twist when he was brought in to comment on The Smothers Brothers performance on US cable channel 'E-Entertainment Channel'. “I do remember Robby had a black eye if you’ll notice in ‘Touch Me’ and a lot of people have asked me if Jim punched him out.

thats mad...wonder why he would want to cover up a car accident, which mustnt have been particularly serious and rather say he was twatted by Jim....would this ne a ploy to rustle up even more controversy for the band?

Who knows with these people.....we will never get the truth about Robby's black eye so we might as well just enjoy the myth.......look at Ray he actually believes a lot of the rubbish he talks about.....one of the most famous being the 'we just did the Ed Sullivan show' Morrison was supposed to have uttered when told by Sullivans nephew that they would never do the show again....other reports claim Jim just told him to 'fuck off'.........not as cool but more likely....Jim Morrison was not Jack Benny FFS! |
