I personally believe that Doors tunes should not be used in ads. it goes against every fibre that Jim was and thankfully JD also agrees with this. Its disgusting that your fave band, which for what ever reason is close to your heart should be heard driving the capatilist machine and promoting some companies product that only cares about the £$. i had Another of my fave bands, the zutons being played for a car ad in britain and this pissed me off! why do they sell their souls for more cash. cant these bands see that their music actually means something to the fans. why see you fave bands music being used for some crappy product? the music i love means something to me and i dont want it associated with any products..bullshit!

ROTS advertised a tyre in the early seventies only here in the UK.......i vaguely remember seeing the ad and thinking it cool....but I was a kid then.... Now I think using my fave rock bands to advertise crap on TV is a disgrace......Free's 'Alright Now' advertising some shitty chewing gum sorta pisses me off...... I know what you mean about the Zuton add....what the fuck Confusion has to do with a crappy car is beyond me..... If R$ay had his way The Doors would be advertising all sorts of crap but John has managed to hold him in check so far....R$ay is trying to overturn the right of JD to veto advertising opportunities in the LA court as we speak ....hopefully he will fail...... Neil Young has it right with his anti commercialism stance and bands like Zeppelin and U2 support this....true some of The Doors songs have ended up on game products but the line is drawn at advertisng Cheerios..........its a pity more of the Doors were not made of more principled stuff like John is....

the guy from the band razorlight also has the samebelieves jim had. save to say his songs will never be in ads. i am sure the adverts to give the song and the band more exposure. but thats ok if you dontmind selling your soul and whoring your music to greedy companies and dont give a shit about how your fans feel about the music.

i agree dude. i noticed they banned the thread. although he was good enough to keep one negative comment thread open, which is unusual! i cant believe that there are people who wouldnt actually mind the likes of ray pimping the doors tunes out to corporate assholes, who couldnt give a shit about the music, just so long as it sells their product. why the hell would ray wanna through everything back into the faces of the fans..knowing full well that one of the reasons why we love the band so much is because they arent fuckin sellouts like the other shitty bands!

Amen!! Very well said. It just boggles my mind, but I have been labled some sort of Idealist all of my life so I am used to paddling out against the waves. I just keep telling my self that once I get out past the break point I will catch a beautiful wave to ride on in with. Keep on keeping on man and this board rules!!! It is refreshing to converse with like minds..............

I am sure y'all can follow this... Al Gore is a member of the Board of Directors for Apple comp. Apple tried to take When The Musics Over and turn it into a TV ad, even shooting the commercial before presenting the idea to The Doors. Ray loved it, he said that computers are cool so they should approve the ad and collect the millions of dollars Apple was giving away. Imagine this, if that commercial had gone through, whenever someone bought an Apple after hearind Jim singing some of the profit would go to Al Gore's salary for being a spokesperson. Al Gore said that he would do whatever he could as president to prosecute medical cannabis patients. That is enough for me to know Al Gore is corrupt beyond everything and should never be allowed in any place where he can make choices for others. Of course mentioning this on the LL created controversy because there are so many brain dead "democrats" running the place.

Nice Billboard. I think we all agree that bands like The Who, Led zepplin and Lynard Skynard have whored themselves by putting their music in such lame spots. Not that those three bands are that good to begin with. "Computers are cool! Apple should give us 10 Million Dollars!" -Ray

Not that those three bands are that good to begin with. "Computers are cool! Apple should give us 10 Million Dollars!" -Ray I have to object to your comment on Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ronnie Van Zant was one of the best white blues singers. He died in 1977 in a plane crash (ran out of gas), any choice made to use his vocals in commercials cannot be used as a reason to say he was not that good. Ronnie Van Zant did not even wear shoes on stage. I do object to the remaining members of Lynyrd Skynyrd selling out to KFC. I am sure PETA will burn KFC to the ground so I know there will be justice for Ronnie. I wonder what type of computer Bruce Botnik is using for remastering the new Doors Box Sets? BTW, Al Kooper produced their first album. Al thought Free Bird was no good.

I think since Jim himself didn't want and Doors songs used in advertisments, Ray, John and Robby should stick to that today. And I think Jim was right to be annoyed about having Light My Fire sold to an advertisement.
