This is interesting. Originally Nite City were known as Pyramid, likely due to Ray's interest in ancient Egyptian religion. His first LP Golden Scarab dealt with this. In the Pyramid was a song on the debut LP written by Ray & the drummer. Here the band support an up-and-coming Japanese rock star Goh Hiromi. (Me neither) Sponsored by a TV company but I doubt they filmed the support. I have a couple of bootlegs from Nite City but would love one of Pyramid. Their eponymous debut appeared sometime in 1977 but when they went from Pyramid to Nite City is long lost to the ages. Ray never talked much about either band as there was no money in it. Even the Nite City Creem interview here talks more about Jim than Ray's new band. Pity as it was a damn good band that was ahead of it's time in some respects and deserved more from its creator. Even before Pyramid just after deciding solo work is a dead end, Ray does a gig in 1975 for the media and record companies at The Starwood. This shows how long it took for them to get a proper identity. A year later they were Pyramid and they were Nite City by 1977.
