To Be honest, i'm just trying to find out if anyone knows if he did, if he was a part of jim's library?.
I have been told that Robert Plant was a big fan of tolkien ie check out"Ramble on" with it's reference to Mordor etc.
Alex, ,Maybe you know anything about jim and tolkien?.

Not really! Planty was heavily into Tolkein 'Battle Of Evermore' was HIS tribute to the books and Zeppelin were hevily influenced by the books but never heard anything about Jim reading that stuff. I first read it in the late 70s when me ex wife tried to get me into it and I thought it was pap with a capital PAP! Loved the movies but the books were shite....I was into Mike Moorcock who pissed on Tolkein with his Eternal Champion books. Maybe a bit to 'English' for Jim he was more into American literature....I wonder if he ever read 'Catcher In The Rye'..can't imagine he didn't...never heard of Jim getting into Sci Fi or Sci Fantasy in any big sorta way.....doesn't mean he never read any Tolkein but can't say I have ever read anything about him doing so.....
