Ray Manzarek comes in for a fair bit of stick from me....mostly deserved for his truly stupid pronouncements... some perhaps not but this interveiw is my favourite Ray interview. I have had it for a couple of years now and for me it epitomises Ray Manzareks greatest strength. His ability to tell The Doors story (or at least HIS version) in an interesting and fascinating way that appeals to new fans of the band as well as old cynics like myself. He may not tell the story as truthfully as we would expect and embellishes his own role and dimishes others but he tells the story in a way that makes you laff along with him, smile at his endlessly repeated tale of meeting Morrison on the beach and he makes you feel good for being a Doors fan...... This interview is special as he also gives fans an insight into the thought that went into the Genesis of The Doors as he goes into the mechanics of 'Light My Fire' with the help of his trusty piano..... Absolutely fascinating stuff and an absolute MUST for anyone who calls themself a Doors fan regardless of thier view of Ray........... ;D
