I look forward to part two of this article. I question the validity of the "Jim owed a house" statement. I was employed by a title company for many years when I lived in Southern California. The question came up about Jim owning a house several times in 1995. Considering I had access to property and tax records which are public information I did a search of S. California using the names: James Douglas Morrison, James D. Morrison, James Morrison, Jim Morrison, Jim Douglas Morrison, Jim D. Morrison and then when those searches came up dry I added Pamela Coursons name and still no deeds of record came up on my search.
I did find a deed for Adm and Mrs Morrison's house in Chula Vista. The parents house was purchased from Dalseth Construction Company and transfer of title or possession was August 7, 1970. They purchased this home while still keeping an address in Arlington, Virginia because the deed was mail to a Virginia address after recording.
I'm not doubting that Tony Funches may have been told that Jim Morrison owned a house but there is no proof in the property or real estate tax records in Southern California. Unless Jim used a different name or purchased the property and deeded it to a person whos name I don't have, he did not own any property in Southern California.

Maybe he just assumed Jim owned it, I haven't read much of it for some reason I don't find myself that interested in such things anymore.

I admit I was not keeping abreats of this argument on the Net but from what I understand Morrison owned property as part of his investments. As far as I am aware he owned Pams place in Norton Avenue but he was hardly living there...his property was probably held in the name of a company as Jim had HWY Productions and maybe had more...we know that owning property was certainly not a big deal to him as he preffered Room 32.... I have not read Tony's interview as yet but will get round to it. It's interesting reading info from these people lets hope we hear from more in the next year or so.

I would have to see a copy of the deed to be convinced that Jim owned any property.
There was no deed in Jims name for the property at Norton Avenue when I did my search in 1995. Like you said he could have used a corporation name in which case I would have missed it. One way to find out, ask that Sherry person who owns it now. She would have had a title search done prior to purchasing the property. Any previous owners would be on that search.
