Stick all the pix and stuff for the Tribute In Motion on here and it saves us having threads all over the place. I just want to take the time to say THANKS GUYS to Nick and Stuart for making a rather good idea into a bloody brillaint one and even if Nick never turned up Stu (who will be along shortly to fill us in with the details no doubt) was his able deputy. Bloody awesome setting and it went off really well....which to be honest I did not think it would being on the 4th. Some guys suggested a repeat next year taking in a couple of days at various places which ties in with Nicks original idea and I think we all need to make sure thats what happens...... I am not back on the net till tomorrow...I am at college but wanted to set this up asap....I will be a bit ignorant for a few days yet as it hurts like hell to type as the guys who saw my hands in Paris will tell you so I will sort out PMs and emails later this week. Thanks again to Nick and Stuart, the reading was one of the greatest events for me while being in Paris! I really hope that we'll get it organised every December/July, I guess we'll just have to ask Shakespeare and Co. again for December... Would be great to see more photos of this event, but unfortunately my whole bagpack (including the photos...)got stolen two days before...

insane? i'm the most brilliant man alive! 'cept for gilles did anyone mention any other venues that would work....? it'd be really cool in the summer to be able to have it the 2nd 3rd and 4th... different times so that it didn't really interefere with anyfing.... outdoor (along the wall? hell everyone was gathered there)... boozy indoor latenight reading, an' summin a bit more classy... ah neither here nor there, tho wouldn't it be nice to try one again at shakespare and co. in dec.- or would that be too much of a repeat?

I guess it would be OK to try it again at Shakespeare, why not?? Would be really cool to install this event every time we're in Paris! It was really brilliant, but it would progress further and further each time it will be held again I guess...

The reading was cool. Much better than I expected (that sounds bad but I mean it in a good way). I have quite a few pics of it which I'll post a bit later on... I reckon a reading on the banks of the Seine would be good for next summer (or Dec if ya wanna freeze yer balls off). Arrange a spot before hand, take a few bottles of wine and just see what happens...

@ Stuart
"This is the best part of the trip" Last night I dreamt about umbrellas rolling over the street ;-) I'll probably never forget stumbling through Paris and cursing the 'step' in the middle of the road. (Iain: "Two scotsmen in Paris...") I hope your knee is alright by now. I just have to thank You for the great poetry reading. It was a big pleasure to meet You and Eressie (Have You get yourself a lighter? ;-))
@ Jochen: Wir sehen uns beim Festival !!!

I found it a great thrill to read poetry"dry"(after overcoming my huge nervousness), it was of course great reading jim's words and i found it cool to read a couple of my own works in such a groovy place. Place des Voges does look great, only saw it at night as iain, myself and another two cool guys(one was called alex and he was about 18)before heading to jim's place, that ws the night myself and alex nearly got trapped in the apartment block!!!.

Yeah I remember that young Alex mate...he read Horse latitudes at the bash did it well too.....Iain read Soft Parade quite dramatically and I enjoyed that and it was nice of Darryl to read 'Lost poets land' which was a request from me earlier in the bar. This was what I read if anyones interested.....a lot of snippets of Jim which to me covered his life and death...I was really nervous and was not actually gonna do it but Rick said he would share it but after Rick read his own poetry I thought bollocks and just went for it......I enjoyed it a lot so then read a couple of pages from New Creatures. The walls screamed poetry disease & sex an inner whine like a mad machine In that year there was an intense visitation of energy. I left school & went down to the beach to live. I slept on a roof At night the moon became a woman's face. I met the Spirit of Music.
He spoke to me. He frightened me with laughter. He took my hand, & led me past silence into cool whispered Bells. I am troubled Immeasurably By your eyes I am struck By the feather of your soft Reply
The artist of Hell set up easels in parks the terrible landscape, where citizens find anxious pleasure preyed upon by savage bands of youths.
Welcome to the American Night where dogs bite to find the voice the face the fate the fame to be tamed by The Night in a quiet soft luxuriant car
Hitchhikers line the Great Highway
The grand highway is crowded w/ lovers & searchers & leavers so eager to please & forget.
Wilderness.
Welcome to the night Welcome to the deep good dark American Night
Untrampled footsteps Borderline dreams Occasion for sinners alive if it seems given to wander alone at the shore wanton to whisper I am no more Am as my heart beats live as I can wanton to whisper faraway sands
The Night is young & full of rest I can't describe the way she's dress'd She'll pander to some strange requests Anything that you suggest Anything to please her guest
Fear the Lords who are secret among us. the lords are within us. Born of sloth & cowardice.
”You guys just made a pact with the devil. He seduces you with cute little gas efficient cars. But you go along with it because the deals so good. I know you Ray... you’re only in it for the money....
lots of money.....” Motel, money, murder, madness Change the mood from glad to sadness
Play the ghost song baby The Lords appease us with images. They give us books, concerts, galleries, shows, cinemas. Especially the cinemas. Through art they confuse us and blind us to our enslavement. Art adorns our prison walls, keeps us silent and diverted and indifferent.
Where are my dreamers Today & tonight. Where are my dancers leaping madly whirling & screaming
Fall down Strange gods arrive in fast enemy poses. Their shirts are soft Marrying cloth and hair together. All along their arms ornaments conceal veins bluer than blood pretending welcome.
The wind withdraws all sound.
Stamp your witness on the punished ground.
The night will come & close your eyes
I'm like a window in a city When you turn off the lights I walk in your whisper And fall thru the night
The Endless quest a vigil of watchtowers and fortresses against the sea and time.
Have they won?
Perhaps.
They still stand and in their silent rooms still wander
the souls of the dead, who keep their watch on the living.
Soon enough we shall join them. Soon enough we shall walk the walls of time. We shall miss nothing except each other.
Invent new faces These won't do The old gets moldy Withers dies Let me see your faces Put them on Your eyes deceive me Don't believe me I could lie
Turn mirrors to the wall in the house of the new dead
Cemetery cool & quiet Hate to leave your sacred lay Dread the milky coming of the day
The hitchhiker stood by the side of the road & levelled his thumb in the calm calculus of reason
I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer yeah I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer the futures uncertain but the end………………..

But you go along with it because the deals so good. I know you Ray... you’re only in it for the money.... lots of money.....” nice dig....where is this from? you must have added the ray bit... i like the idea of combining diff poems of jim's to describe different parts of his life...a cool tribute dude ;D

i think he would have only added the name into it, but that would have been who jim was speaking to when he said that anyway, right?
